Maddie has been an artist her whole life, but she started taking art seriously when she was 10 years old. Maddie studied under Artist Bob Barret for six years and has been teaching art since 2019. Maddie’s favourite mediums are watercolour and pencil. 

What Maddie says about her art journey: “I used it as an escape from bullying when I was younger, and it helped me get through a lot of hardships growing up. It's always been there for me and I keep all of my old pieces to look back on the progress I've made!”

This influenced what she loves most about teaching: “Being able to help students get through their hardships by expressing themselves through art. I want students to feel safe and comfortable with me and learn how to better communicate how they're feeling and what they want to express through their art!  I love teaching young teens and being able to be a safe space for them. I also love anime and manga, and teaching it is super fun!”
